INDIE SPOTLIGHT: BRITISH ANTHOLOGY ‘ARTIFACTS OF FEAR’ IS SINISTER AND SATISFYING
By Garrett Schulte
We recently discovered a hidden gem in a sea of forgettable micro-budget horror films. Artifacts of Fear comes from writer/director/composer Rusty Apper. As a triple threat talent, Apper shapes this nostalgic trilogy of dark tales into something reminiscent of the beloved Hammer films of our youth. Stylish, smartly acted, and broodingly macabre, Artifacts of Fear sits next to the likes of Creepshow and is like revisiting a childhood nightmare. The film stars Laurence R. Harvey (The Human Centipede 2), Nathan Head (Exorcist Chronicles), Rami Hilmi (Extraordinary Rendition), and Paul Kelleher (Meatcleaver Massacre).
Synopsis:
Get ready for a world of witches, murder and the occult as two college teens bite off more than they can chew whilst meddling in an infamous local antique store. They manage to awaken the true “artifact” of fear in the form of a penny arcade that transports them into a real-life nightmare.
Artifacts of Fear is a Red Zodiac Films production and is distributed by Bay View Entertainment on Tubi, Amazon, Apple TV and home video. The DVD edition boasts a making of featurette and extended footage.
